This past weekend we shot a video for Pirates. It was shot on Super 8 in and around a park in Toronto… it follows the ‘Lovers as they go on a picnic but soon discover that the contents of their basket have disappeared…

Here are some photos from the shoot, taken by the lovely Chantale Lalonde

Triceratops!Ah spring. The sun is out, the temperature is rising and the birds are singing. Spring fever is taking over! Here in Toronto it seems like we’ve almost skipped a true spring. There hasn’t been too much rain or cool days, mostly sunny, nice warm days. I’m not complaining although I’m worried about the May flowers without much showering going on in April…

With spring comes a desire to get organised and cleaned up. We are currently booking our trip out to Western Canada. If you have any suggestions, or particular places you’d like to see us in, don’t hesitate to email us! We always appreciate the hot tips. We are excited to be heading out to some new cities, as well as some familiar cities, with a new record in tow.

Today is Earth Day. What have you done today? Did you try and use less electricity? Today was a great day to dry your clothes outside. If you would like some tips on how to conserve energy and to generally be a good Earthling, you should head over to David Suzuki’s website. He is a wonderful spokesperson for our environment.

Food bank Food stuff!Thank you to everyone that came out to our Guelph and  Toronto cd release shows over the last two nights. They were both sold-out amazing crowds - apologies to any one that didn’t get in. The D’urbervilles were amazing, and we also had a great time playing with some extra hands and sounds. Thanks to our special guest players, Randy Lee, Anissa Hart, Eric Woolston, Tim Bruton and Mikey Muscat.

Also a big thank you to everyone that brought food items for the Daily Bread Food Bank. It’s always nice to help out others and I’m glad we were able to have so many donations!

Tonight we play Waterloo and hopefully it will go as well as the last two nights. We are leaving to go out east soon which should be another fun adventure. Hopefully we shall see some of you along the way.

I’ve updated the press section with some new review of our new album.

ciao.

A big box of “to-do”The Happy -

We are very pleased to say that last night, with the help of some very dear friends, a few Lakers and some of Kyle’s homemade peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, we began assembly of our new album! We folded and glued until the glue ran out and it was too late to go to bed early. Today I will send out a big box to the distro and a few to the weeklies. So begins the giant task of promoting a new release. Nothing is more exciting right now than watching the box of unassembled paper become albums and then leave our hands, gingerly, into yours.

The Sappy -

it’s with heavy hearts that Forest City Lovers bids adieu to our dear friend and drummer, Paul Weadick. Paul’s been an awesome, integral part of the band for just over a year now and we’ve had some great times with him and his beats. We all wish him the best with his goings ons, and we hope to see him succeed in all his endevours. And of course, we’ll miss him.

Steve Lappano will be filling in for our upcoming cd release shows and Eastern Canada tour. Steve is a lovely human being and a great drummer, so we are excited to have him on board for the interim!

In the summer the Planet In Focus Film Festival used “Castles” in one of their “Youth, Camera, Action!” videos. The video, an acted out music video for Castles, will be airing nationwide on CBC’s “The Outlet” on Saturday February 23rd beginning at 11am. Check for it in your time zone. The video is pretty cute, put together by a group of youth between 14 and 18 years old.

Congrats to them, and yay for their work!
